About FSJD

The mission of FSJD is to serve the cultural, spiritual, educational, and social needs of the Jewish community with inclusivity and respect for all branches of Judaism. Our goal is to promote Jewish identity and values by celebrating the richness of Jewish practices and traditions passed down through generations. We strive to build a vibrant community that engages in activities to advance our core objectives. Through inclusive meetings, programs, and activities, FSJD aims to cultivate a welcoming environment where members can connect, learn, and thrive within the framework of their Jewish heritage.

FSJD Logo

The Logo Explained

The color blue is often associated with calmness and serenity, evokes feelings of peace and tranquility. Its connection to the sky and ocean reinforces these associations. This particular shade of blue also carries connotations of holiness and protection, particularly in Jewish tradition where it symbolizes the sacred heavens. The Hamsa, an open hand, is a widely recognized symbol of protection with a rich historical background. Believed to defend against the evil eye, a symbol often associated with negative energy, the Hamsa is believed to safeguard and protect from negative energies and to bring good luck, happiness, success, fortune, and harmony.

Our Priorities

  • Promote awareness about FSJD among Jewish Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, including youth and their families.

  • Engage membership in nontraditional FSJD activities, fostering their active participation.

  • Ensure communication access to programs offered by diverse Jewish agencies and organizations.

  • Offer lifelong educational and cultural opportunities to the Jewish Deaf community, including holiday-themed presentations.

  • Establish and uphold community partnerships with agencies and organizations to enhance service provision for the Jewish Deaf community.

  • Build a welcoming bridge by educating, enlightening, and sharing our cultural perspectives with those of non-Jewish faith.
